Polarity Ensemble Books began its life in 2006 as the publishing arm of Polarity Ensemble Theatre, publishing works by Darren Callahan, Richard Engling, and Fern Chertkow. While the theatre ceased operations in 2018, Polarity Ensemble Books continued life as a small press dedicated to the work of a collective of independent authors. As the first new work in the Polarity Ensemble Books reboot, Richard Engling's novel, Give My Regards to Nowhere: A Director's Tale, came out March 22, 2023. It's a comic novel of love, lust, and life-threatening electrical shocks set in the Chicago storefront theatre scene.
